The Building Committee is currently meeting with the architect to finalize plans for the Phase I expansion (see the Long-term Strategic Plan below for more information). Once this is complete, a financial campaign for capital funds will begin. More information, including building plans, will be posted here soon, along with information on how you can contribute to our building campaign.

Long-term Strategic Plan:
Growing Together

The Body of Christ known as Sango United Methodist Church has continually grown since it was founded in 1903. The continued growth has caused us to begin to exceed the capacity of our current facilities. In response to this, a Strategic Directions Committee was commissioned by the Administrative Board in 2001 to research and suggest a long-term strategic plan for the expansion of our facilities to provide a stage from which to launch into ministry with and for our church, our community, and our world.

The strategic plan calls for a specific set of long-term growth plans over the next twenty to thirty years:

Phase I: 5-10 years (2006-2011)
The first phase of the expansion will involve expanding forward from the Christian Life Center with a two-story addition that will provide needed educational, multipurpose, and storage space. This will allow additional space for Sunday school and community meetings and allow the Parents’ Day Out program to have dedicated space in the main building. An integral component of this phase is connecting the Christian Life Center and the main church building together and rerouting parking and church traffic around the campus instead of through the campus to ensure safety of all persons, especially children and senior adults. The connector will have a new main entrance/common area and administrative space, including offices and a work room.

Phase II: 15-20 years (2016-2021)
The second phase of the expansion will involve construction of a new sanctuary off the front of the Christian Life Center and additional education space. The proposed sanctuary will be a two-story facility with a balcony space for overflow seating.

Phase III: 20-30 years (2021-2031)
The third phase of the expansion, which is the most distant component of the plan, will involve expansion of educational and community facilities off of the existing education wing to both the North and the South. The South expansion would potentially include a two-story expansion. Depending upon the needs of the church and community at that time, the facilities could be general space or specific space (e.g., a Nursery school).
