The summer is a great time to catch up on reading. I have 3 books I am reading tight now, “The Spiritual Warfare Answer Book,” by David Jeremiah, “The Battle Plan for Prayer,” by Stephen and Alex Kendrick and “The New Adapters,” by Jacob Armstrong. What are you reading? If you have not started your summer reading come by the office and see me. I have plenty of good books to choose from. A growing Christian should be reading about the things of God in order to mature in our faith. Consider how you are constantly learning to advance and be of more use in your job. It should be no less in your faith. II Timothy 2:15 tells us, “Study to find thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” This can be a heavy task if we approach it with a heavy heart, however, when we have a desire to know the Lord more intimately it is a joy to learn. How do you feel about reading and learning of the Lord?
We are moving into an exciting time in the life of Sango United Methodist Church. The building program has not really gotten into high gear and we are already seeing great gifts and offerings toward our building fund. Thank you to those of you who have considered building our facilities an important part of growing the kingdom. We must have space for people to come and learn and grow as followers of Jesus Christ and many of you have already moved towards making it a reality. If you are still thinking about participating financially there is still time. Our goal is to begin in early 2017. We have formed a committee to explore what is the best way forward. They will report their recommendations to the Trustees who will consider what is suggested and then “tweak” the plan if necessary. The trustees will then bring that to the Church Council in the proper time for consideration. The Church will be presented with a close to finished plan so suggestions can be made from anyone who would like to have input. All voices will be brought back to the council and a final version will be completed. This will take some time so be assured it is already in motion. May God be glorified!
Set aside time for a fun filled day on Saturday August 27th as we host the third Sango UMC Antique Car Show. Bring your family to see some really old cars and trucks while bringing back a little nostalgia. It is all for a fun and free day for your family and friends. Josh Lindstrom is the coordinator for this activity and it should be a wonderful and fun event for the entire Clarksville community.
Saturday September 24th will be the Sango UMC Bar-B-Que. This year Jonathon Dumas and Jeff Robbins are teaming up to be Co-coordinators for this event and all the money raised will be going to the new building fund. They tell me their goal is to sell 1000 tickets! This cannot be done without the help of everyone in the church. Be part of a great day and pick up 10 or more tickets and sell them to your family, friends and co-workers.
